I get the feeling that when most people see P.T. Anderson’s Magnolia for the first time, it registers such a shock that little can be remembered.  The same thing happened to me; after I saw the film with Fletcher I didn’t know what to think.  A few weeks later, we were riding around Auburn and he popped the film’s soundtrack in to his CD player and out came Aimee Mann’s “Momentum.”  I don’t recall ever having been so hooked by a riff and mesmerized by a song;  I think I asked him to put it on repeat for the rest of the ride.  Totally slick Telecaster licks, a great horn section, and a bass line that sounds like it’s moving towards you make this song one of my favorite songs, ever.
